RAHMA: Reproductive Justice

Why RAHMA Matters

Asiyah’s Reproductive Justice Program provides culturally responsive, trauma-informed reproductive health services to Muslim, immigrant, and BIPOC women in New York City, addressing the systemic barriers that often prevent access to care. These include language barriers, financial hardship, cultural stigma, and a widespread mistrust of healthcare systems due to past experiences with discrimination and insensitivity. The program offers reproductive health education, access to contraception and family planning, support for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, and guidance in navigating complex healthcare and insurance systems.

Services are carefully tailored to align with the cultural and religious beliefs of clients, ensuring compassionate and respectful care. Recognizing the critical need for intersectional support, the RAHMA Program integrates reproductive healthcare with Asiyah Center’s mental health and legal advocacy services to provide holistic care. The program also hosts community workshops and outreach initiatives to educate women about their reproductive rights, expand awareness of reproductive justice, and advocate for long-term systemic change.
