Why Mental Health & Health Services Matter
Asiyah Women’s Center provides free, trauma-informed counseling and case management to survivors of domestic violence, forced migration, and refugee trauma. Our Mental Health Program offers free, trauma-informed, and faith-conscious mental health services tailored to AMEMSA (Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, South Asian) and BIPOC survivors.
We address barriers such as financial insecurity, cultural stigma, and limited access to care, offering services in multiple languages with therapists trained in Islamic and cultural competency frameworks.
Financial Insecurity: 67% of clients cited financial insecurity as a major barrier to accessing mental health services.
Language & Cultural Barriers: 58% of clients reported language or cultural dissonance in mainstream mental health care settings.
Provider Gaps: 1 in 3 clients had been retraumatized by providers who failed to understand cultural, religious, or gender-based violence contexts.
